
ANGELA CURWEN
CHAIR
Angie is a Trustee of Louie's Helping Hands School, Birchington, a charity set up to support children with complex medical and educational needs. As a Volunteer Mentor for Homestart-Thanet, she worked within the home to support local families struggling with isolation and mental health problems. She was a volunteer worker for the Thanet Night Shelter for the homeless, assisting street homeless people. Angie's paid work life started as an administrator at Great Ormond Street Hospital, She later worked in IT attending many technical training courses and later forming a small team of specialist computer sales and support. In 1992 she moved to Birchington and was employed by Pfizer, using her IT skills for risk profiling and ensuring legal reporting requirements were met. Choosing to spend more time with her family she moved to Quex Park Estates as an Estates Manager responsible for lettings, management, maintenance of estate homes, organising contractors and events management. She became Managing Director of Quex Foods and eventually through a management buyout became owner and MD of SME, Kent Crisps and Kentish Oils. She withdrew from the company in 2016 since when she has been involved in local community campaigns. She is presently training as a counsellor and expects to qualify in 2021.
